BCSS Pre-K Classrooms Receive Grants

The Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education (ADECE) is committed to ensuring children birth through age 8 have high quality learning experiences in environments designed to support their optimal development. As part of this commitment to excellence in early childhood education, funding was made available to improve the outdoor playground environment of First Class Pre-K, First Class Foundation, and/or other designated, state licensed early learning programs that provide services to children birth through age 5.

Programs were encouraged to submit a plan for quality enhancement that would offer real and lasting improvements with an overall goal to create a better place for children to grow and learn.

Through this grant, Georgiana School’s Pre-K classroom received $34,898.00 to expand their play area, add a trike trail, and add additional equipment. A building to house outdoor equipment will also be purchased.

McKenzie School’s Pre-K classrooms received $17,814.71, which will be used to replace mulch under climbing structures and purchase more equipment specifically designed for four year olds.
